Belt Lipectomy is the procedure performed to remove exaggerated and circumferential excess skin, or skin and body fat, in the abdomen, flanks and lower back that have been caused by significant weight loss, obesity, or multiple pregnancies, a situation that cannot be resolved with liposuction or abdominoplasty alone. In these cases, the belly, hips, lower back, buttocks and thighs are compromised with excess tissue pendulums.
The process is like a facelift, but of the trunk and also receives the names of TORSOPLASTY, CIRCUMFERENTIAL TORSOPLASTY, BODY LIFTING AND CIRCUMFERENTIAL LIPECTOMY.
Am I a good candidate for a body lift?
Significant weight losses can occur due to important changes in lifestyle habits (exercise, diet), or after bariatric surgery with losses of between 30 to 100 Kg., presenting variable degrees of tissue hanging in different parts of the body, which causes a loss of harmony of the body contour.
Dermolipectomy or isolated abdominoplasty in these patients limits the improvement only to the abdomen, with permanence or accentuation of deformities in the back, hips and buttocks. In reality, some patients require, in addition to circumferential lipectomy, surgery on the arms, inside the thighs, breasts and back.
